Yesterday evening and over night we finally received the rain we desperately needed to give us temporary reprieve from the drought conditions that have plagued us in the Midwest. As I write this I can hear the thunder rumbling in the distance. I am thankful conditions will improve at least for the time being.
I know hay is hard to find and already getting very expensive, I can only imagine how high it will get by fall. If you haven't already prepared for winter I would suggest you do so as quickly as you can. I know that grain prices have already jumped up there as well and will continue to rise as winter nears.
I don't envy the farmers with large scale livestock operations, for they will be hard pressed to feed their stock and get them though the winter this year. I pray for all the farmers and their families, for without them none of us would eat.
Take a minute to include them in your daily prayers and thank God for the abundance of food we enjoy here in the USA. Let us not take the food or the farmers that provide it for granted.
